Tell TVL - Your questions answered

What’s Tell TVL?

It’s a secure platform where people just like you can share information about van theft or break-ins. It’s all part of our plan to build a community dedicated to fighting vehicle crime.

Unfortunately, van crime in towns and cities across the UK continues to soar and these crimes impact hard-working employees, sole traders and business owners.

Police databases are organised regionally so there isn’t a true national picture of the scale of the problem, or a way to capture key details and trends on methods used to gain entry so van drivers and owners can be on high alert.

We think it’s about time drivers and fleet owners were given a chance to join forces against the criminals who cause them so much damage, financially and emotionally.

How does it work?

When someone gives details of how their van was attacked or stolen, they’re giving other members a heads-up on the newest methods of attack, helping them to take action before it’s too late.

They’re also giving vital intelligence to enable us to identify trends and crime hotspots across the country, all of which will help our community and police partners stay one step ahead of the thieves.

What happens to my details?

We’ll share information about your vehicle crime with the police – the National Business Crime Centre to be precise. Other than that, all your data stays with us on the platform, where it’s safe. We’ll use it to find new ways to combat crime, but that’s it. No marketing, no third parties, no unwanted spam.

Details about your vehicle crime will also be collated and anonymised to produce free vehicle crime insights and analytics that will be shared with registered users only.

How do I know my data is secure?
We don’t collect any personal data when you are reporting an incident, only if you register to become part of the community. A copy of our privacy policy is available here: Tell TVL website is hosted on the International Security Register ISR, operated by Retainagroup www.retainagroup.com who have over 30 years’ experience in handling data securely. TVL’s approach is to work with our customers to ensure that their vehicles are not attacked and whilst this includes advising on appropriate security products this also extends to providing crime prevention advice.

What’s happens to any images that I share?

Images that you share will be used to understand if there are any new methods of attack emerging. If we identify a new entry method then then images will be used for R&D purposes only, to design security products to defend these new attack methods.

We will not be sharing specific details of how vans are being attacked as this would be irresponsible however we will be sharing generic advice on vulnerable areas of the van that may benefit from additional protection or extra vigilance.

Where do I register?
We were hoping you’d ask that. You can register below. Welcome to the Tell TVL community!
